Moana Hall is an historic space within the heart of Perth’s CBD that has been the home of many colourful venues in its lifetime. The fit out for this bar, café and events space heightens the existing sense of material depth and history of the space, while making it approachable and wholly contemporary.

The dark bar elements that order the space sit off existing surfaces in order to limit the impact on the existing heritage fabric. Shelving and frames respond to the scale and rhythm of the existing cast plasterwork making the new feel comfortable with the old. Unfinished steel, woven mosaics and custom designed light features work with the existing and stripped back surfaces to create a space for both day and night; an engaging balance between glamour and grit.
